摘要: To combat fungi degradation that impairs mechanical properties and service life of wood-based construction materials, Chinese fir essential oil (CFEO) microcapsules was anchored onto wood surfaces. Core-shell Chinese fir essential oil at SiO2 microcapsules (CFEO@SiO2MC) synthesized via sol-gel achieved 49% loading efficiency and sustained release with 60% CFEO retention after 56 days. Anchoring formed dense SiO2 coatings for preparing functionalized wood, significantly enhanced the wood's antifungal properties: microcapsules-pine wood (MC-PW) and microcapsules-populus albaglandulosa (MC-PA) achieved 75% and 100% against Aspergillus niger, and 92% and 100% against Penicillium citrinum. Mechanical tests confirmed better and stronger anti-bending performance. These high-loaded silica microcapsules demonstrated exceptional potential for durable wood-based construction materials.
